Job summary

Washington Soldiers Home, part of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs, seeks a Registered Nurse 2 to provide skilled nursing and leadership support on a 2:00 PM–10:30 PM shift. The role includes medication administration, documentation, and guidance to NAC staff in a resident-focused, dignified care setting.

You must hold a WA RN license, graduate from an accredited nursing program, and demonstrate English proficiency. The work schedule is Tue–Sat; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Washington State license to practice as a registered professional nurse.
• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English for effective clinical care.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis.
• Agency Required Competencies for all positions: learn/grow and meet others' needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain healthcare records per current policies and procedures.
• Administer medications and monitor residents' self-pour meds.
• Maintain incident log and provide feedback for direct care staff.
• Encourage residents and staff to meet needs in a homelike environment.
• Maintain open communication with staff.
• Assist in presenting training materials to staff.
• Perform nursing assessments, quarterly for MDS completion.
• Pursue self-development by staying updated on new techniques.
• Make rounds regularly to ensure unit expectations are met.
• Hold the staffing book as assigned.

Education

Valid WA RN license

Graduation from accredited school of professional nursing

English reading/writing/speaking proficiency
