Job summary

Washington Veterans Home in Port Orchard, WA is hiring a Registered Nurse 2 for the Swing/Evening shift. This Full-Time position delivers skilled nursing care to residents and supervises frontline staff, with a 2:30 pm–11:00 pm schedule onsite.

The RN must hold a Washington RN license, be fluent in English, and have at least one year of nursing experience. The role emphasizes care planning, documentation, and maintaining a respectful, resident-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Valid Washington state RN license or multistate license.
• Proficient in English reading, writing and speaking.
• Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience.
• Knowledge of nursing/restorative care, hygiene, infection control and resident rights.
• Ability to assess, develop plans of care, discharge planning and document care.
• Agency competencies: willingness to learn and meet residents' needs.
• Preferred: long-term care experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain healthcare records per policies and procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments; monitor residents.
• Maintain incident log and provide feedback to staff.
• Encourage residents and staff to meet needs in a homelike environment.
• Communicate openly with staff and share information.
• Assist in training materials for staff.
• Perform nursing assessments and quarterly MDS updates.
• Pursue self-development and learn new techniques.
• Regular rounds to ensure unit expectations are met.
• Manage staffing book as assigned.
