Description:Unit notes include medical screening procedures requiring two supervisory references from the submitting modality, with conditions on the timing of the references.A copy of the driver's license is needed to validate the legal name for submission.Travelers are expected to work two of the three major holidays.Final scheduling will be determined by managers.Holiday time off will be considered but is not guaranteed.Prior to signing the contract, a skills exam is required and must be completed within 24-48 hours of the initial attempt.Candidates have two attempts to achieve a passing score.This unit has 11 beds and nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:2.Common diagnoses include ARDS, sepsis, chronic ventilation, alcohol withdrawal, DKA, CRRT, and therapeutic hypothermia.Intubations and line placements are typical procedures.Nurses are expected to titrate various medications, including vasoactive and sedation medications.Charge nurses typically do not take patient assignments, with multiple nurse shift managers available.Safety attendants are present for assisting where needed, and primary nursing practices are in effect.Both hospitalist and intensivist services are available 24/7.Respiratory therapy is on-site at all times.Nurses are required to interpret EKG strips using Phillips monitors.Shifts involve comprehensive reporting at the bedside and are planned four weeks in advance.Self-scheduling is employed with some flexibility for extra shifts and trading among staff.Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend.Floating to other critical care units is possible but rare.Scrub color is navy, with specific undergarment guidelines.Pharmacy services are available 24/7, with additional support specific to the unit’s operations.The cancellation policy includes limits on shift cancellations throughout the assignment period.The charting system utilized is Cerner.This position does not require a BSN degree.This is an acute care setting within the nursing division.
