Description:This position requires an RN to work in an ICU setting.The nurse-patient ratio is 1:2.Common diagnoses and types of patients include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain.RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, and metabolic medications.There is a charge nurse on the unit who takes an assignment.Nurse aids are available on the unit, depending on volumes.A hospitalist is onsite, and RT is available in the ICU 24/7.The unit has equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and vents.RNs must be able to read strips and escalation issues as necessary.Staff can participate in self-scheduling and block scheduling.Full-time and part-time employees are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts in a six-week schedule.Vacation requests and holiday requirements are applicable.There may be a call or standby requirement, as determined by management.Floating may occur within designated zones based on staffing needs.Scrubs should be navy blue.Cancellation policy allows for the potential cancellation of up to 4 shifts during the assignment.The charting system used is EPIC.
