Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide perioperative care and counseling, using the nursing process to promote health, prevent illness, and support surgical patients and their families. You will apply critical thinking to assess and plan care with guidance from the care team.

The role may require BLS (and possibly ACLS/PALS) and Alabama RN licensure, with a preference for a BSN. Shifts offer Flexi/PRN options within a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required depending on unit/department.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide care and/or counsel individuals in the operative setting.
• Implement data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, intervention and evaluation of health problems.
• Delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care in the operative setting.
• Deliver patient care in collaboration with the patient, family and health care team under physician/psychologist/podiatrist/dentist guidance.
