Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist to support surgeons in a safe operation and post‑operative evaluation. The RNFA role requires independent perioperative nursing skills and collaboration with the surgical team across departments.

The ideal candidate holds an RN license with CNOR and BLS, plus completion of an accredited RNFA program, and has 2+ years perioperative nursing experience. This is an on‑site role with opportunities to contribute to patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN per IDFPR certification requirements.
• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• CNOR certification required.
• Completion of an accredited RNFA program.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries and prepare trays, instrumentation, and supplies.
• Provide patient care and support and administer medications.
• Scrub and circulate as needed and participate in room turnover.
• Control bleeding, suture incisions, drape, and provide exposure.
• Monitor vital signs and educate patient and family on operation and aftercare.
• Perform post‑operative assessments and monitor for pain or complications.
• Study patient history and health assessments; monitor healing and infection.
• Participate in research and coordinate supplies to maintain efficiency.
