Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks a Financial Clearance Coordinator with accredited nursing education and oncology experience to support clinical and financial clearance. You will handle authorization management, peer‑to‑peer engagement, and financial counseling to help patients access timely cancer care.

The role requires strong knowledge of healthcare authorization and reimbursement processes, collaboration with patient access teams, and a focus on patient‑centered

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Two years nursing experience, or one year in utilization review/case management/medical clearance.
• Oncology nursing experience and external payor utilization review preferred.
• CCM/CHAM/ACLS/PALS certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Documentation & Authorization Processing: verify eligibility/benefits, document dates, enter data into EHR, coordinate pre-authorizations, maintain records.
• Clinical Review & Medical Necessity Support: apply clinical judgment, assist with interpretation and peer‑to‑peer reviews, stay updated on documentation requirements.
• Clinical Trial & Coverage Review: review trial participation details, document sponsor coverage vs patient coverage, communicate responsibilities.
• Financial Counseling & Customer Collaboration: provide counseling on costs, discuss payment plans and assistance options, respond to inquiries promptly.
• Operational Excellence & Professional Development: escalate issues, complete required documents, partake in training and mentoring opportunities.
• Education: ensure compliance with nursing education requirements and ongoing professional development.
