Description:Provides direct patient care to a service population of approximately 10,000 people.Uses the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.Works with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.The Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a Physician on duty at all times.Demonstrates the core mission, vision, and values of the organization.Assesses patients presenting for emergency care and triages based on history, physical assessment, and chief complaint.Provides comprehensive nursing care for acutely ill and/or critically ill patients.Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician, including medication administration, intravenous fluids, and blood transfusions.Maintains ongoing therapeutic measures.Operates and monitors specialized medical equipment.Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and service providers to ensure optimal patient care.Initiates patient education plans as prescribed by a physician.Cleans and bandages wounds.Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks.Records all care information concisely, accurately, and efficiently in the appropriate format.Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts.Respects tribal and cultural traditions and practices.Adheres to and upholds HIPAA regulations.Duties are intended to illustrate the types of work performed.The omission of specific duties does not exclude them if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment.
Physical Requirements:Normal to heavy work is required, including the ability to lift up to 20-50 lbs.Lifting and transferring of patients may involve heavy lifting.Regularly requires walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods.Manual dexterity with a full range of motion in all extremities is required.
Cognitive Requirements:Ability to effectively handle situations and people with tact, courtesy, respect, and objectivity.Employs moral and ethical judgments.Works with minimal to no supervision.Skills in reading, writing, and calculating are necessary.
