Job summary

Steward Health Care is seeking an Emergency Room RN to direct, plan and organize nursing activities on the ER unit for each shift. The role focuses on patient, physician and staff needs with rapid assessment and decisive treatment in acute illness or trauma.

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current Louisiana RN license. BLS is required within 30 days; ACLS and other certifications are due within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or ADN/BSN nursing degree from an accredited program.
• Active LA RN license in good standing.
• Prior ER nursing experience desired but not required.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and other certifications due within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Direct, plan and organize nursing activities on the ER unit for assigned shifts.
• Provide rapid assessment and treatment to patients in the initial phase of illness or trauma.
• Stabilize patients with decisive actions during life-threatening situations.
• Collaborate with physicians and staff to meet patient care needs.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Current Louisiana Nursing License in good standing

Previous ER nursing experience

BLS within 30 days of hire

ACLS within 90 days of hire

POSITION SUMMARY

The Emergency Room RN is responsible and accountable for directing, planning and organizing the nursing activities on the ER unit for an assigned shift with focus on patient, physician and staff needs. The emergency nurse provides rapid assessment and treatment to patients in the initial phase of illness or trauma and often in life-threatening situations. They specialize in assessing, intervening and stabilizing a variety of trauma and illnesses with decisive action

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Louisiana Nursing License in good standing
• Previous clinical nursing experience in ER desired
• BLS is required within 30 days of the hire date.
• All other certifications are due within 90 days of hire, i.e., ACLS.
