Job summary

IHA in Des Moines, IA seeks a Registered Nurse to manage the orientation program and coordinate departmental education for staff, including onboarding new equipment and procedures. You will act as a liaison between new staff, current employees and leadership, ensuring alignment with clinical practice standards.

You will support policy development, regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, OSHA), participate in performance improvement, coordinate BLS/ACLS/PALS training and competency evaluations,

Qualifications

• Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Basic Life Support certification within six weeks of hire (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers)
• Proof of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire

Responsibilities

• Maintains orientation program aligned with clinical practice standards and implements it for all new staff.
• Acts as liaison between new staff, current employees and the Director.
• Develops and coordinates educational activities including continuing education and onboarding of new equipment/procedures.
• Serves as a resource on policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, OSHA).
• Acts as a professional role model and assists staff, especially preceptors, in development.
• Supports and participates in departmental Performance Improvement projects.
• Coordinates BLS, ACLS and PALS training for department staff.
• Coordinates competency testing for Medical Group staff.
• Participates in meetings and committees; implements competency evaluation plans.
• Routinely performs procedures in the Medical Group area with high visibility among staff and physicians.
• Serves as a resource and role model in clinical practice.
• Contributes to development, implementation, and review of policies and procedures guiding the Medical Group.
