Job summary

MercyOne in Des Moines, IA is seeking an experienced nurse educator to lead the orientation program, coordinate staff education and competency assessment across the Medical Group. You will liaison with staff, preceptors, and leadership to ensure clinical practice standards and regulatory compliance are met.

The role requires an RN license, BLS certification within 6 weeks of hire, and a Bachelor's degree preferred, with opportunities to participate in Performance Improvement initiatives and

Qualifications

• Current or compact state license as a registered nurse in Iowa.
• BLS certification within six weeks of hire.
• Proof of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains orientation program aligned with clinical practice standards and implements it for new staff.
• Acts as liaison between new staff, current employees and the Director.
• Develops and coordinates department education and staff orientation to new equipment/procedures.
• Serves as resource on policies, procedures, standards, regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, OSHA) and updates policies as needed.
• Supports staff development and acts as professional role model, especially for preceptors.
• Participates in Performance Improvement projects within the department.
• Coordinates BLS, ACLS and PALS training of department staff.
• Coordinates point of care testing competencies for Medical Group staff.
• Participates in meetings and external/intradepartmental committees as assigned.
• Coordinates and implements competency evaluation plans for Medical Group staff.
• Performs procedures in the Medical Group with high visibility and interaction with staff and physicians.
• Acts as a resource and role model in clinical practice.
• Contributes to development, implementation and review of policies and procedures for the Medical Group.
