Job summary

IHA in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Nurse Educator to maintain and implement orientation programs, oversee staff education, and ensure compliance with clinical practice standards in a Medical Group setting.

The role serves as a liaison between staff and leadership, coordinating BLS/ACLS/PALS training, updating policies, supporting performance improvement initiatives, and mentoring preceptors while maintaining high visibility with physicians.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Basic Life Support certified within six weeks of hire by a recognized provider.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains orientation program aligned with clinical practice standards and implements it for all new staff.
• Acts as a liaison between new staff, current employees and the Director.
• Develops and coordinates educational activities including continuing education for staff and orientation to new equipment/procedures.
• Acts as resource on policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and suggests updates as needed.
• Serves as a professional role model and assists staff in development.
• Supports departmental Performance Improvement projects.
• Coordinates BLS, ACLS and PALS training of department staff.
• Coordinates testing competencies for staff.
• Participates in meetings and committees as assigned.
• Coordinates competency evaluation plans for Medical Group staff.
• Routinely performs procedures in the Medical Group area with staff and physicians.
• Serves as a resource and role model in clinical practice.
• Participates in policy development, implementation and review to support the Medical Group.
