Job summary

North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville, TX is seeking an experienced ED Nurse Leader to coordinate nursing care in a fast-paced environment. The role focuses on patient safety, staffing, triage, and performance improvement in the Emergency Department.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in critical care with supervisory experience, Texas RN license and required certifications (BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC/NIHSS). This role oversees staffing, education, and patient flow in a dynamic ED setting.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (RN).
Current state RN licensure in Texas.
BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC certifications.
NIHSS certification within one year.
Minimum three years critical care nursing; supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee cost-effective management of ED nursing resources; staff according to patient volume and acuity.
Ensure patient safety and reduction of medical errors; support a culture of quality and safety.
Provide knowledge of medications and their correct administration by patient age and condition.
Perform head-to-toe assessments and periodic reassessments per policy across age groups.
Coordinate triage to ensure timely and appropriate care; assign accurate triage categories.
Promote pain management and educate patients/families about pain control.
Monitor hemodynamic status and interpret cardiac monitoring results.
Maintain current knowledge of medications and safe administration; follow medication rights.
