Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by assuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while operating within a framework of patient and employee safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized plans of care.
- Identify teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in medical records.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient education on the day of admission.
- Communicate pertinent information regarding patient status changes to support continuity of care.
- Supervise and guide ancillary nursing personnel, providing training and support as needed.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to team dynamics and create an efficient work environment.
- Maintain communication with management regarding service needs and clinical training requirements.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested following the orientation period.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development through ongoing education.
- Prioritize activities for effective time and staffing management.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (for certain locations).
- Minimum two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
