Job Description - RN - Day Surgery (7466-1642)

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Same Day Surgery unit on evenings. The RN is responsible for planning and evaluating services in the OPSU/PACU, providing care for pre and post-operative ambulatory patients across all age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics.

Qualifications

Essential Functions:

• Plans, organizes, and evaluates services in the OPSU/PACU, ensuring high-quality patient care without deviation.
• Assists in developing and updating nursing care protocols for ambulatory surgical patients.
• Provides psychosocial support to patients, families, and staff.
• Coordinates with CRNAs and anesthesiologists regarding operational concerns.
• Maintains supplies and participates in quality improvement projects.
• Performs rapid assessments during peri-anesthesia care, documenting accurately and timely.
• Participates in preoperative patient education and assessments.

Job Requirements:

• Graduate of an RN program; BSN preferred.
• Current RN license in Pennsylvania or multistate license from a compact state.
• Experience in Medical/Surgical nursing preferred; Critical Care experience preferred for PACU.
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and BTNC (or equivalent) within 6 months to 1 year of hire.
• Ability to work in a demanding, high-stress environment and independently with computer skills.
• Satisfactory completion of orientation and probationary period.
