Description: Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Same Day Surgery unit on evenings. The RN is accountable for planning and evaluating services in the OPSU/PACU and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary for providing care for the pre and/or post operative care of the ambulatory patient. The care provided is appropriate to the age of the patient services, to include pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatric patient groups.

Qualifications:

1. Essential Functions:
   • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates services in the OPSU/PACU per policies.
   • Promotes high-quality patient care without deviation patterns.
   • Utilizes effective cost containment daily.
   • Manages patient care in OPSU/PACU effectively.
   • Develops, implements, and updates nursing care for ambulatory surgical patients.
   • Provides psychosocial support to patients, families, and staff.
   • Discusses operational concerns with CRNAs and Anesthesiologists as needed.
   • Maintains supplies for OPSU/PACU.
   • Participates in PI projects.
   • Reviews incident reports and implements changes.
   • Performs rapid patient assessments differentiating needs during peri-anesthesia care.
   • Documents patient data, interventions, and responses accurately and timely.
   • Educates self and others, participates in preoperative assessments.

3. Job Requirements:
   • Education: RN program graduate required; BSN preferred.
   • Licenses: Current PA RN license or multistate license from a compact state.
   • Experience: Medical/Surgical experience preferred; Critical Care experience for PACU preferred.
   • Skills: BLS certification required; ACLS or willingness to obtain within 6 months; BTNC or equivalent within 1 year; computer skills; independent work ability; strong communication skills; successful completion of orientation and probation.
