Job Description

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Same Day Surgery unit on evenings. The RN is responsible for planning and evaluating services in the OPSU/PACU, providing care for pre and/or post-operative ambulatory patients across all age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics.

Essential Functions

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate OPSU/PACU services according to hospital policies.
• Promote high-quality patient care and effective cost management.
• Manage patient care in OPSU and PACU, ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Assist in developing and updating nursing care protocols for ambulatory surgical patients.
• Provide psychosocial support to patients, families, and staff.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists and CRNAs on operational concerns.
• Order and maintain supplies for OPSU/PACU.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and incident reviews.
• Perform rapid assessments and document patient data accurately and timely.
• Educate patients, families, and healthcare team members, including preoperative assessments.

Job Requirements

• Education: RN program graduate required; BSN preferred.
• Licenses: Current PA RN license or multistate license from a compact state required.
• Experience: Medical/Surgical nursing preferred; critical care experience in PACU is a plus.
• Skills: BLS certification required; ACLS and BTNC or equivalent within specified timelines; computer skills; strong communication skills; ability to work independently.
• Successful completion of orientation and probationary period.
