Job Description

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Same Day Surgery unit on evenings. The RN is responsible for planning and evaluating services in the OPSU/PACU, providing care for pre and/or post-operative ambulatory patients across all age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics.

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, a 45-bed hospital serving rural and suburban populations since 1900, offers high-quality, compassionate care with advanced cardiac services, emergency care, and outpatient diagnostics. It is part of the Conemaugh Health System, a Duke LifePoint Healthcare system.

Responsibilities

1. Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate services in the OPSU/PACU.
2. Promote high-quality patient care and effective cost management.
3. Manage patient care in OPSU and PACU without deviation from standards.
4. Develop, implement, and update nursing care plans for ambulatory surgical patients.
5. Provide psychosocial support to patients, families, and staff.
6. Discuss operational concerns with CRNAs and anesthesiologists as needed.
7. Order and maintain supplies for OPSU/PACU.
8. Participate in PI projects and review incident reports for quality improvement.
9. Perform rapid assessments differentiating short and long-term needs peri-anesthesia.
10. Document patient data, interventions, and responses accurately and timely.
11. Educate self, patients, families, and team members; participate in preoperative assessments.

Minimum Requirements

1. Graduate of an RN program; BSN preferred.
2. Current PA nursing license or multistate license.
3. Experience in medical-surgical nursing; critical care preferred for PACU.
4. BLS certification; ACLS and BTNC or equivalents within specified timelines.
5. Strong communication skills, ability to work independently, and computer literacy.
6. Successful completion of orientation and probationary periods.
