Job summary

Penobscot Valley Hospital in Maine is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse (36 hours) for day shifts, including weekends and holidays, with occasional float to the Emergency Department.

You will perform age‑appropriate nursing assessments, plan and deliver care, administer medications with safety, document care, and contribute to discharge planning and patient education, while upholding hospital policies and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Current Maine nursing license; BSN preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial age-appropriate nursing assessment (neonate to geriatrics).
• Develops/implements plan of care based on patient needs and physician orders.
• Executes appropriate nursing actions to reach patient goals.
• Documents patient care activities in accordance with established standards and hospital policies and procedures.
• Administers drugs correctly utilizing the 'five rights' and evaluates patient response.
• Completes discharge plan and ensures patient/family understanding and follow-up needs.
• Promotes hospital and staff through professional behavior; participates in quality and disaster/ emergency planning.
