Job summary

Penobscot Valley Hospital in Maine is hiring a full-time night-shift registered nurse for the Med Surg unit. The role includes weekend and holiday coverage with occasional float to the Emergency Department. It is non-exempt, unionized, and paid on an hourly basis with shift differential.

Qualifications

• Current Maine nursing license; BSN preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS and PALS certification preferred; within 6 months if not current.
• Emergency Department experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial age-appropriate nursing assessment (neonate to geriatrics).
• Completes discharge assessment to identify patient discharge needs.
• Develops and implements plan of care based on patient needs and physician orders.
• Administers drugs correctly utilizing the five rights and evaluates patient response.
• Documents patient care activities in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Assists with patient charges and promotes hospital/employee professionalism.
