Job summary

ARMStaffing is seeking a Registered Nurse for the CVICU on a 13-week contract in Olympia, WA. The RN will work 3x12 hour night shifts (19:00–07:30) with every-other-weekend coverage, caring for post-cardiac and general ICU patients.

Responsibilities include medication administration, vital sign monitoring, and collaboration with Physical Therapy and Respiratory Services. EPIC charting is used for patient records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years RN experience in CVICU or similar ICU setting.
• Ability to manage patient ratios effectively, typically 2:1.
• Current RN license (Compact license accepted).
• ACLS and BCLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred.

• Care for CVICU and general ICU patients, including complex cases.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory).
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs.
• Utilize advanced equipment (ventilators, Impella, IABP).
• Support patients undergoing cardiac surgical interventions.
• Float to lower acuity units as needed.

Job Description

The role involves caring for patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at a short-term acute care facility. The patient population includes those undergoing open heart procedures, as well as general ICU patients with various diagnoses such as respiratory failure, sepsis, DKA, and COVID-19. The unit utilizes EPIC for charting and has an average daily census of 18-19 patients across 21 beds.

Responsibilities

• Manage care for CVICU and general ICU patients, including those with complex needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Physical Therapy and Respiratory Services.
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs.
• Utilize advanced equipment such as ventilators, Impella, and IABP.
• Participate in the care of patients receiving cardiac surgical interventions.
• Float to lower acuity units as needed within the scope of practice.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a CVICU or similar setting.
• Ability to manage patient ratios effectively, typically 2:1.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current RN license (Compact license accepted).
• ACLS and BCLS certifications required.
• NIHSS preferred.
