Qualifications

• Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures as normally acquired through 2 years' experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting.
• Knowledge of nursing leadership as normally acquired through working 1 year in a Medical Center or similar setting with involvement in supervision, charge nurse, project implementation, professional development program, shared governance leadership role, or equivalent.
• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
• MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows.

Responsibilities

• Assesses acuity to maintain staffing levels for designated shift and for on-coming shift.
• Monitors hospital-wide activity via reports, rounds, patient acuity, number and type of admissions and other forms of communication.
• Plans, develops, implements and evaluates educational programs for orientation, staff development, and continued growth of all employees within the department. Counsels staff as needed. Responsible for maintaining lines of communication with peers, subordinates, and superiors.
