Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual must uphold the voice of the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
    • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating through effective partnerships.
    • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care respecting cultural diversity.
    • Partners with patients and significant others through appropriate methods, such as bedside reports, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and updates, focusing on patient goals.
    • Practices according to current clinical standards.
  2. Teamwork and Collaboration
    • Coordinates safe, quality patient care, ensuring timely documentation and fostering an inclusive, respectful environment.
    • Practices in a fiscally responsible manner, promoting team recruitment and retention.
    • Supports performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities.
  3. Professional Development and Initiative
    • Completes all competency assessments and mandatory education.
    • Serves as preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
  4. Evidence-Based Practice and Research
    • Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement activities.
    • Ensures compliance with policies, standards, and accreditation requirements.
    • Participates in data collection and clinical research activities.
  5. Resources and Support
    • Plans for patient care across the continuum.
    • Develops protocols and procedures collaboratively to improve outcomes.
    • Supports efficient use of resources.

Minimum Education and Licenses

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • RN license (single-state or multi-state compact) and BLS certification are required upon hire.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical care experience required.
