Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. All RN Clinical Nurses are required to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, individuals must uphold the voice of the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Exemplary Practice and Outcomes: Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Relationship-Based Patient Care: Provides patient-centered care respecting cultural diversity and adapting service delivery accordingly.
• Patient and Family Partnership: Partners with patients and significant others through methods like bedside reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient education, focusing on patient goals.
• Teamwork and Collaboration: Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality care, practices fiscally responsible, and promotes a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. Supports performance improvement and shared governance initiatives.
• Professional Development: Completes required competency assessments, serves as preceptor/mentor, and models professional nursing practice.
• Evidence-Based Practice and Research: Promotes research, participates in data collection, and adheres to organizational policies and standards, including safety goals.
• Resources and Support: Plans patient care across the continuum, develops protocols, and supports resource efficiency.

Minimum Education and Certification Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
