Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
  1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
    • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care.
    • Provides relationship-based patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics.
    • Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods such as bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient education.
    • Practices according to current clinical standards.
  2. Teamwork and Collaboration
    • Coordinates safe, quality patient care and promotes effective interdisciplinary communication.
    • Demonstrates teamwork that is fiscally responsible and supports staff recruitment and retention.
    • Supports performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities.
  3. Professional Development and Initiative
    • Completes professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
    • Serves as preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and model professional nursing practice.
  4. Evidence-Based Practice and Research
    • Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement.
    • Participates in data collection and addresses practice questions using appropriate resources.
  5. Resources and Support
    • Plans proactively for patient care across the continuum.
    • Develops protocols and procedures to improve practice outcomes.
    • Supports efficient use of resources.
Minimum Education
  • Associate's Degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience required.
