Job summary

Mosaic Life Care is seeking a CDI RN to perform basic to intermediate clinical documentation integrity reviews, coding assignments and denial appeals. The role supports physician advisors and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure accurate DRG assignments and high-quality documentation.

Remote eligibility covers several states; requires active RN licensure and timely completion of CCDS/CDIP within 2 years.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in the state of practice is required.
• CCDS certification required within 2 years of hire.
• CDIP certification required within 2 years of hire.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor's is preferred.
• 3 years of ICU/critical care clinical experience required.
• 1 year in clinical documentation integrity functions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic to intermediate initial, concurrent and retrospective reviews of clinical documentation for admissions; abstract data from charts and systems.
• Assigns and updates ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRG calculations; review for accuracy.
• Identify the need to clarify documentation and initiate provider queries.
• Review clinical validation denials and prepare first/second level denial appeals with physician advisor; perform mortality reviews.
• Participate in staff training and quality improvement activities; communicate with coders to ensure accurate DRG assignment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team; rounds with physicians and department conferences.
• Maintain professional development via webinars and online education; strive for CDI quality and productivity goals.
• Other duties as assigned.
