Job summary

Mercy South's Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) in St. Louis, MO is seeking an RN to provide high-level cardiovascular patient care on a Fri-Sun night shift. This full-time role includes weekend premiums and sign-on bonuses for experienced or graduate nurses.

You will work with surgeons and cardiologists to coordinate care and ensure patient safety and comfort. Mercy offers structured orientation, Nurse Residency options, mentorship, and opportunities to advance into critical care

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or BSN.
• Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current RN license in Missouri or compact licensure.
• Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process and maintain professional accountability.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and ensure patient rights and confidentiality.
• Work with surgeons, cardiologists, and heart clinic to facilitate safe transitions home.
• Deliver complex cardiovascular and thoracic patient care on the CVPCU.

Schedule: Full-Time | 36 hours/week

Shift: Friday - Sunday, 7pm - 7:30am

$20/hour Weekend Option Premium!

Sign On Bonus

• $10,000 for Experienced Nurses
• $5,000 for Graduate Nurses

About The CVPCU

CVPCU specializes in caring for complex cardiovascular and thoracic patients, including:

• Post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias
• STEMI and myocardial infarctions
• Pulmonary issues
• Kidney failure
• Overdoses and medical step-down patients

You’ll work closely with surgeons, cardiologists, and the heart clinic to ensure patients transition safely and confidently back home.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following:

• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit.

Certifications

• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: BSN preferred
• Licensure: Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
