Belmont Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is currently recruiting for an RN Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team.

PURPOSE/BELIEF STATEMENT: The RN Assistant Director of Nursing monitors and provides personal nursing care and leadership to the nursing staff to ensure care standards are met and high-quality resident care is delivered at all times. The role involves team leadership, supervision, and collaboration with the Director of Nursing to manage the nursing department’s operations and resources.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assess the needs of new residents and inform staff of new resident arrivals.
  2. Make daily resident visits to observe and evaluate residents’ physical and emotional status, and revise care plans accordingly.
  3. Interact with medical staff, nursing staff, residents, families, and visitors regarding resident condition.
  4. Ensure all resident care is provided respectfully and with dignity.
  5. Ensure nursing staff are knowledgeable of residents’ rights and responsibilities.
  6. Conduct daily unit rounds to evaluate unit functioning and address needs and concerns.
  7. Assist clinical managers in monitoring nursing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  8. Assist in emergency situations involving residents.
  9. Engage with nursing staff, residents, families, and physicians.
  10. Participate in the nursing on-call rotation.
  11. Address resident and family concerns promptly.
  12. Function as a RN Charge Nurse if needed.
  13. Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
  14. Supervise and participate in developing resident programs as needed.
  15. Maintain accurate resident documentation and records.
  16. Adhere to departmental, center, and home office policies, standards, and safety protocols.
  17. Participate in training and educational programs to maintain licensure and improve care quality.
  18. Provide leadership and foster loyalty within the staff.
  19. Perform other related activities as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Current RN license in the state of employment.
  2. Minimum of a Nursing degree from an accredited institution or approved RN program.
  3. At least 5 years of RN supervisory experience, preferably in long-term care.
  4. Current CPR certification.
  5. Knowledge of nursing practices, standards, laws, and regulations related to long-term care.
  6. Ability to make independent decisions and handle tactfully various stakeholders.
  7. Leadership, teaching, and supervisory skills.
  8. Ability to plan, organize, and develop care programs and policies.
  9. Willingness to adopt new methods and principles into practice.
