Position Summary:
The RN - Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Services department to ensure the highest quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements:
- ASN or BSN from an accredited college or university
- Currently licensed/registered in applicable State. Must maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment.
- Two (2) years' geriatric nursing experience preferred, preferably in post-acute care
- CPR certification upon hire or during orientation. Must remain current during employment.
Specific Job Requirements:
- Maintain liaison with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs
- Possess expert knowledge in the field of practice
- Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Be knowledgeable of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care functions
- Implement and interpret department programs, goals, policies, and procedures
- Perform proficiently in nursing care, supervision, infection control, patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Maintain professional relationships with all associates and vendors
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
- Follow company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
- Adhere to Life Care's Code of Conduct and complete mandatory training
Essential Functions:
- Assist the DON in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and directing Nursing Services
- Interview, select, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise nursing staff
- Oversee nursing care and infection control
- Assume DON duties in their absence
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary
- Perform functions of a staff nurse as required
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude
- Assist in patient evacuation when needed
- Demonstrate dependable attendance and good judgment
- Communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during work hours
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English
