Job summary

Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Arizona is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Labor & Delivery team. You will provide high-quality care during labor, delivery, and postpartum, with a focus on fetal monitoring and timely emergency response.

The unit features 7 L&D beds, 2 triage beds, and 10 postpartum beds. Expect rotating night and day shifts, with weekend coverage and potential float to ED or Med-Surg as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of nursing experience, preferably in Labor & Delivery.
• Experience with C-section procedures is required.
• Active ACLS, BLS, and NRP certifications or the ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Provide care during labor, delivery, and postpartum with fetal monitoring.
• Respond to OB emergencies with appropriate actions and collaboration.
• Perform couplet care and high-level patient assessments.
• Collaborate with unit staff to ensure safety and quality.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor & Delivery team. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing high-quality care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages, with a strong emphasis on fetal monitoring and emergency response skills.

Shifts & Scheduling

• Start Date: ASAP
• Orientation: Every Monday
• Shift Options:
• Nights: 6 PM - 6 AM
• Days: 6 AM - 6 PM
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
• Floating Requirement: May float to ED or MedSurg units if experienced.

Unit Information

• 7 Labor & Delivery (L&D) beds
• 2 Triage beds
• 10 Postpartum beds
• Average of 1-3 births per day
• Approximately 830 births per year
• Patient-to-nurse ratios typically 1:2

Qualifications

• 2+ years of nursing experience required, with a preference for 3+ years in Labor & Delivery.
• Experience with C-section procedures required.
• Required Certifications:
• ACLS
• BLS
• NRP
• Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Proficient in fetal monitoring and actions taken for fetal distress.
• Experience handling patients with pre-eclampsia and a clinical background in high-risk pregnancies.
• Capable of performing couplet care, handling OB emergencies, and providing high-level assessments.

Support and Staffing

The unit is equipped with a 24/7 respiratory therapist, Patient Care Technicians, and Health Unit Secretaries. The Nurse Manager provides support by occasionally seeing patients as needed.

Additional Information

• One call shift per 4-week schedule.
• OB/Neonatologist not in-house; strong assessment skills are critical.
• May be required to float to other units within the facility if necessary.
• 24/7 pharmacy available on-site.
