POSITION SUMMARY
The Risk & Safety Manager is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining risk management and safety initiatives to protect the organization’s assets, employees, and guests. This position ensures compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements while fostering a culture of safety and proactive risk mitigation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended as an overview of key responsibilities of the work for this position and are not all inclusive:
General Responsibilities
- Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates the Cedar Crossing culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers.
- Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures with company policy and state regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations.
- Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for Team Members.
- Resolves problems within the scope of authority and escalates issues as necessary to senior leadership.
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to clearly convey safety policies and risk management strategies in person, in writing, and via training sessions.
- Takes on and manages various projects assigned to support evolving Company safety and risk initiatives.
- Identifies safety risks and takes actions necessary to eliminate or minimize risks.
- Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
- Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities.

Risk & Safety Responsibilities
- Trains, motivates, and leads staff to ensure safety protocols and risk management procedures are effectively implemented and adhered to.
- Develops, implements, and enforces company-wide safety policies, procedures, and training programs to reduce workplace incidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Conducts regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Administers loss prevention policies and ensures adherence to workplace safety and emergency response protocols.
- Oversees and manages workers' compensation claims, insurance processes, and compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Works closely with department managers to implement safety initiatives tailored to specific operational needs.
- Investigates incidents, accidents, and potential risks, providing detailed reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Chairs safety committee meetings, prepares reports, and ensures documentation of all safety initiatives.
- Leads emergency response planning and training, ensuring all team members are prepared for crisis situations.
- Partners with Human Resources and Legal teams to address claims, compliance issues, and employee safety concerns.
- Stays current on federal, state, and local safety regulations to ensure the company’s compliance.
- Represents the company in industry safety forums and maintains strong relationships with regulatory bodies.
Security Shift Manager Responsibilities
- Assists with the establishment of department standards, guidelines and objectives, and maintains other administrative processes such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of assigned areas.
- Responsible for the loss prevention functions of the complex, including company assets on the casino floor, customer and employee security and safety on their shift.
- Assists with training, selecting, and developing of staff, scheduling and directing.
- Ensures all applicable laws, rules and regulations of the company are firmly and fairly enforced.
- Responsible for all investigations or supervision of all investigations performed by subordinates assigned to the Security Department.
- Implements systems to ensure compliance with federal, state and company rules and regulations.
- Identifies and controls risks and threats to the safety and assets of the company patrons and employees.
- Responsible for the detention of persons for probable cause for the purpose of notifying law enforcement and/or state gaming officials.
- Controls and maintains company-wide key controls throughout the property while on duty.
- Directs Security personnel to specific assigned duties and/or special assignments as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associates degree plus three (3) years supervisory or above experience in a high-volume, complex casino, hotel or public arena environment. Two (2) years of experience in safety/risk management in similar industry. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation laws, and risk management best practices. Experience in conducting safety audits, developing training programs, and leading safety initiatives. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent required. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

- Communicate effectively with all levels of Team Members, guests and outside contacts.
REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:
- Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.
- Obtain and maintain required license(s).
- Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
- Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department.
- Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gambling.
- Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls.
- Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.
- Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member of which they have knowledge.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must have ability to:
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Move around all work areas effectively and efficiently.
- Work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Sit or stand for extended amounts of time.
- Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels, may be exposed to secondhand smoke and varied light levels, including flashing lights.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Valid driver’s license with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May manage subordinates who may supervise Team Members. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit(s).
