Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Risk Management intern for Summer 2027. You’ll work with project teams to coordinate insurance contracts, analyze risks, and support claims and data entry while gaining hands-on experience early in your career.

The program runs May through August 2027; interns gain exposure to CCIP, pre-qualification, and risk tools, with opportunities to develop skills in Power BI and Excel, and to collaborate across teams in a fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Actuarial Science or related field.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate junior.
• Basic understanding of construction and generally accepted business practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support Risk Analysts in evaluating project risk and insurance requirements.
• Assist with CCIP and contractor insurance programs.
• Review and track trade partner insurance certificates.
• Communicate requirements to project teams, customers, trade partners, and agents.
• Help with property & casualty insurance program.
• Visualize data in Power BI or Excel.
• Analyze data to identify and forecast claim trends.
• Learn risk management tools protecting construction projects.
• Assist in reporting of claims and data entry.
• Other duties as assigned.
