Job summary

Mortenson is seeking motivated interns to gain hands-on experience on active construction projects across Renewable Energy, Commercial, Data Center, and more. You’ll work with project teams, subcontractors, and partners on site, solving real problems from day one while building a foundation for your career.

The spring intern program runs January 12 to April 2027, with opportunities aligned to your interests and growing organizational priorities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate four-year degree in Construction Management, Construction, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Safety Management or related field.
• Willing to relocate.
• Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Comfortable with exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and trailer environment.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Currently an undergraduate junior.
• Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, initiative and leadership.
• Detail-oriented, organized, able to handle multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Champion Mortenson's zero-injury safety requirements.
• Complete construction change orders.
• Handle shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
• Assist with purchase orders and subcontractor agreements.
• Partner in construction sequencing and schedule maintenance.
• Collaborate with team in preconstruction and pre-installation meetings.
• Assist with subcontractor coordination meetings and correspondence.
• Utilize industry-leading technology to assist in construction processes.
• Support preparation and evaluation of bid packages.
• Consult with subcontractors and material suppliers.
• Handle material procurement.
• Participate in architect and owner interaction.
