Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs workplace/work site risk evaluation and consultative risk improvement services, and makes risk recommendations for the underwriting function, including solutions to minimize risk.
- Works with senior risk control staff to assess account and/or book of business needs and implements customized strategies.
- Partners with underwriting and other areas to provide information for risk evaluation and assessment, including reviewing accounts for operational issues, claims, profitability, and agency management.
- Analyzes losses on individual accounts or specific books of business to identify root causes, trends, and emerging issues.
- Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Conducts education, training programs, and presentations.
- Visits agencies/brokers to build relationships, discuss account issues, and market company products and services.
- Identifies opportunities for new products and services.
- Provides expertise in one or more specialty areas.
- May be responsible for special projects and presentations.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Solid technical and product-specific expertise, risk control evaluation skills, and knowledge of insurance and risk control principles, practices, and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to handle ambiguous situations and issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other business-related software.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred.
- Typically 3-5 years of risk control experience with a proven track record of results.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In districts such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, the base pay range is $54,000 to $103,000 annually.
