WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • The Loss Control Specialist will provide Loss Control consultative support to current and prospective policyholders in an assigned territory. This support aims to reduce workplace accidents or losses by visiting worksites, evaluating risks, writing reports, providing onsite training, and recommending improvements.
  • Are you passionate about workplace safety and eager to be part of a successful team at a financial institution with on-the-job training? BHHC seeks a Loss Control Specialist knowledgeable in occupational operations, employee exposures, controls, codes, laws, and regulations, assigned to a territory including Niagara, Syracuse, Buffalo, Scranton, Western Pennsylvania, possibly Pittsburgh, Northern NJ/NYC.
  • Manages a book of business within the territory by visiting worksites, evaluating risks, and writing reports.
  • Monitors loss activity and develops reduction strategies.
  • Assists policyholders in safety improvements and provides consulting and training services.
  • Serves as a resource to underwriters, brokers, and insureds in safety, loss control, and regulations, conducting training as needed.
  • Develops and participates in presentations to clients, underwriters, and vendors.
  • Reviews underwriting requests for loss control services and coordinates work with staff and supervisors.
  • Performs special assignments and projects as assigned.

HOW YOU'D FIT IN

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Sciences, or related discipline. Preferred
  • 2-4 years minimum providing loss control or safety services, preferably in workers' compensation insurance. Required
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to travel with overnight stays.
  • Preferred certifications: ASP, GSP, OHST or similar.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge of industrial operations, occupational hazards, controls, codes, laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn proprietary software.
  • Strong analytical, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently, ensure quality, and pursue ongoing training.
  • Effective communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
  • Dependability, organizational support, leadership, problem-solving, and reasoning abilities.
