Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field is required.
• Certification as a Special Education teacher is required.
• Knowledge in developmental disabilities.
• Familiar with special education assessment tools.
• Knowledge of curriculum design and development.
• Knowledge of MA Curriculum Frameworks and MCAS alternate assessments.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing Special Education.

Responsibilities

• Design and carry out developmentally appropriate curriculum/programming aligned to IEP goals and MA standards.
• Develop data collection systems to monitor progress toward goals and standards.
• Implement behavior and incentive plans and maintain data on children’s behavior and social-emotional needs.
• Guide classroom staff and maintain parent contact; collaborate with behavior support staff.
• Provide trans-disciplinary programming through consultation with professional staff.
• Conduct educational evaluations and progress monitoring for reports and re-evaluations.
• Prepare MCAS alternate assessments when scheduled.
• Assist students with ADLs as necessary.
• Implement social skills training and sensory supports.
• Use assistive technology to provide access to the curriculum and communications.
