Job summary

Piedmont Arthritis is seeking a detail-oriented Certified Professional Coder (CPC) to join our rheumatology team. The coder will accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, ensuring compliant documentation and reimbursement.

Training occurs in-office, with possible work-from-home options after training completion. Responsibilities include coding audits, claims management, provider education, and maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or similar certification (e.g., AAPC, AHIMA) is required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of medical coding experience, rheumatology experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines.
• Proficiency with EHR systems and medical billing software.
• Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coding & Auditing: Review medical records to assign CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes; ensure compliance with regulations and policies; conduct internal audits.
• Claims Management: Work with billing team to submit clean claims and resolve denials; support documentation for appeals.
• Provider Education: Serve as coding resource for providers and staff; educate on documentation requirements and new guidelines.
• General Duties: Maintain HIPAA confidentiality; collaborate on revenue cycle management; perform admin tasks as needed.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

2-3 years medical coding experience

ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II knowledge
