The position may involve work-at-home options within the Middle Tennessee region; candidates should reside near Knoxville or Columbia areas for on-site requirements.

Qualifications

• Must reside and work in the Middle TN, Knoxville, or Columbia area.
• Minimum of 1 year surgical coding experience.
• CPC or CCS-P certification required.
• Strong knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-10, HCPCS coding principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering primary health care and patient care management.
• Review and abstract patient records to assign diagnoses and procedures.
• Code services documented in medical records with appropriate codes.
• Use query process when documentation is lacking.
• Enter codes into the practice management system and correct errors in editors.
• Educate providers about results of periodic audits with professionalism.
• Maintain knowledge of coding regulations and payer requirements.
• Keep daily average set by supervisor/management.
