Job summary

MACOM is seeking a Principal Process Development Engineer in California. The role focuses on backend assembly process and package developments for RF power products, with emphasis on design, qualification, and continuous improvement in high-volume manufacturing.

You will lead cross-functional projects, work with equipment vendors, perform FMEA and DoE, and support new product introductions with materials selection and data review. Requires 8+ years in backend assembly and relevant degrees.

Qualifications

• BS/MS preferred in mechanical, material, industrial engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 8+ years in package and assembly process development (die attach, SMT, lid attach).
• Experience using die bond equipment such as Datacon EVO.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend assembly process and package developments for RF power products.
• Define specs, guidelines, and develop assembly processes with recipe development and equipment upgrades.
• Mitigate issues across development stages for processes, materials, and equipment.
• Continuous improvement of existing assembly processes, equipment and materials for quality and cost.
• Design tooling to adapt off-the-shelf equipment for high-volume production.
• Qualify new tooling, machines and materials in development projects.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to qualify and debug equipment.
• Create and review design and equipment process FMEAs.
• Provide technical manufacturing support and solutions.
• Support new product introductions with material selection and data review.
• Conduct risk assessments and report results to executives.
• Coordinate mechanical reliability tests and root cause analysis.
