Job summary

TEKsystems in Mooresville, NC is seeking an experienced Microwave Technician to support field deployments and lab staging for telecommunications infrastructure across NC and nationwide.

The role requires hands-on experience with microwave radio systems, RF equipment, and small cell tech, plus the ability to configure, test, and troubleshoot hardware in a lab and field setting. Travel and overtime are required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience installing, repairing, staging, assembling, or maintaining microwave radio, RF, small cell, or related telecommunications systems.
• Working knowledge of RF systems, electronics, telecommunications infrastructure, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Understanding of two‑way radio systems, cellular technologies, or wireless communications equipment.
• Strong mechanical and/or electronic aptitude.
• Ability to follow engineering documentation and installation procedures.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and expand technical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Positive attitude, reliability, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Lab Staging & Equipment Preparation: receive, inventory, and stage hardware; build/install racks per OEM specs; verify field readiness.
• RF Fabrication & Connectivity: assemble/terminate RF cabling (N-Type, SMA, DIN); install/ seal waveguide systems; route and label cables.
• Testing & Validation: use RF power meters, VNAs, spectrum analyzers to validate performance; conduct signal testing and path loss simulations.
• Field Installation & Deployment: travel to sites to install/commission equipment; deploy backhaul systems on towers and rooftops.
• Power & Grounding: install DC power systems, rectifiers, and battery backup; perform grounding/bonding.
• Telecommunications Cabling: terminate wires on 66/110 blocks; install environmental monitoring and alarm systems.
