Job summary

University of Kentucky is seeking a billing specialist to manage moderate-complexity patient account activities to optimize reimbursement and reduce accounts receivable. You will provide expertise in billing, follow-up, collections, and denials resolution to improve financial outcomes.

You will review charges and payments, reconcile balances, communicate with stakeholders, and work with coding, authorization, and utilization teams to close documentation gaps, while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Billing and revenue cycle experience in healthcare settings.
• Experience handling payer communications and denials.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and FDCPA compliant practices.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in billing, follow-up, collections, and/or denials resolution.
• Reviews charge, payment, and adjustment activity to identify variances and initiate corrective action.
• Reconciles patient balances and payer remittances for accurate posting.
• Communicates estimates, statements, and complex balance questions with stakeholders.
• Collaborates with coding and utilization teams to address documentation gaps.
• Maintains HIPAA, FDCPA, and payer contract compliance.
