Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to manage patient account balances, submit claims to third party payers, and follow up on denials to ensure timely cash flow.

You will adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, provide excellent customer service, and work closely with Patient Access and Care Management to resolve issues and improve revenue cycle performance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year medical billing/medical office experience preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI and compliance with billing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Submits accurate and timely claims to third party payers.
• Resolves claim edits and account errors prior to submission.
• Adheres to follow-up procedures with third party payers to maximize collections.
• Gathers statistics, completes reports and performs clerical duties as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all tasks.
