Job summary

Boston Public Schools invites applications for the George B. Cox Equity in Urban Education Fellowship - Retention. This two-year fellowship supports design and execution of retention programs for BPS staff, emphasizing belonging and reducing turnover.

The Retention Specialist Fellow reports to the Retention Manager and works on data collection, affinity space support, mentorship, recognition, and district-wide events to advance equity and employee engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Early Career Professional.
  • Strong program or project management experience with extraordinary attention to detail, professionalism, ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing spreadsheets and reports/ database management (Excel, Google sheets).
  • Interest in analyzing and interpreting quantitative data and diverse information, and to make recommendations based on the findings, specifically using Excel and / Access.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; Google Suite; proficiency in developing/maintaining websites.
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly, proposing and implementing thoughtful solutions.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop good relationships and network with various populations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work as part of an active team, work simultaneously on multiple tasks and projects, prioritizing daily activities.
  • Possesses growth mindset, actively seeks and uses feedback to improve performance.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of BPS retention programs, including executive coaching, peer mentorship, and onboarding support for new educators.
  • Support the development and execution of wellness and recognition initiatives aligned with BPS employee engagement goals.
  • Contribute to planning and logistics for district-wide events, retreats, and professional development sessions hosted by the Retention Team.
