Job summary

Meijer is seeking a store leadership professional to oversee daily operations and mentor team members in a fast-paced retail environment. You will drive customer service, staff development, and a positive store image.

The role includes staffing, training, and promoting career growth while ensuring sales targets are met and shrink is controlled. A strong emphasis on safety and operational standards will guide day-to-day decisions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members with clear, precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations and mentor staff.
• Staffing, selection, and hiring to meet needs.
• Promote career development and succession planning.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and advise on promotions.
• Manage P&L, sales targets and shrink; ensure customer service and standards.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Promote the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and conversations.
• Mentor team members to exceed sales goals and ensure training completion.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and staff to ensure exceptional service.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain reliable attendance.
