Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores INC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development at our Newport location. You will assist with daily activities, help customers, and ensure merchandise flows smoothly from delivery to sales floor while maintaining seasonal areas.

Responsibilities include opening/closing procedures, payroll/scheduling records, loss prevention, and training Store Associates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs., frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits/receipts), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager train and develop Store Associates.
• Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure store areas are clean and presentable, including bathrooms, floors, and stockrooms.
• Other duties as assigned.
