Job summary

Associated Grocers in Baton Rouge, LA seeks a Retail Systems Support Specialist I to be the first point of contact for store teams requiring technical assistance with POS systems and related technology. You will troubleshoot hardware, software, OS, and networks while delivering outstanding customer service.

In this role you will document support requests, resolve issues, and collaborate with senior staff on complex concerns.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required and 2 years’ PC software/hardware experience.
• Experience supporting POS and payments systems preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Consult with member stores to determine their systems and software needs.
• Support retailers in the use of POS software and related systems.
• Read manuals of newly acquired software packages in preparation for installations.
• Provide telephone and field technical support and hardware repair for retail systems customers.
• Install and setup software, operating systems, networks, and related systems at stores.
• Train users on software and systems where appropriate.
• Maintain knowledge of current hardware and software technology and pricing.
• Provide backup support to Retail Systems Specialist when needed.
• Make recommendations to Retail Systems Management regarding customer needs.
• Provide on call support as required.
• Create and maintain documentation for services performed.
• Deploy AG-Link and related communications mechanisms as required.
• Provide technical support for Retail Systems applications and related processes.
• Install and setup Email and Internet accounts at Retail when appropriate.
• Suggest enhancements based on customer requests.
• Assist with new customer integrations and third party file builds.

As a Retail Systems Support Specialist I , you'll be the first point of contact for retail team members needing technical assistance. You'll provide timely support for point-of-sale (POS) systems and related technology by troubleshooting hardware, software, operating system, and network issues while delivering outstanding customer service.

In this role, you'll document and track support requests, resolve technical issues whenever possible, and collaborate with senior support staff to raise more complex concerns. You'll also help educate users on POS systems and best practices, playing a key role in keeping our retail operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Consult with member stores to determine their systems and software needs
• Support retailers in the use of POS software from RORC, LOC, ADC, and BRData Software as well as support Host Communications file transfers and other products.
• Read manuals of newly acquired software packages in preparation for installations
• Provide telephone and field technical support and hardware repair for retail systems customers
• Install and set up new software, register systems, operating systems, anti-virus, cloud based applications, and networks, and other systems and applications, including cabling at member stores.
• Train users on software and systems where appropriate.
• Maintain knowledge of current computer hardware and software technology and pricing
• Provide backup support to in-house Retail Systems Specialist when needed
• Make recommendations to Retail Systems Management regarding customer needs
• Provide on call support as required
• Create and maintain appropriate documentation for all services performed
• Create and maintain appropriate custodial documentation for all equipment
• Timely submission of all documentation and paperwork
• Deploy/Install AG-Link and related communications mechanisms as required.
• Provide technical support (field and telephone) for Retail Systems applications and offerings, and related applications and processes.
• Install and setup Email and Internet accounts at Retail when appropriate.
• Make recommendations to Retail Systems Management regarding customer requests for enhancements.
• Assist with and provide support for new AG customer integration as well as provide assistance and support for Host Communications Service and third party file builds and compares.
• Ensure professional and technical growth through attendance at, and participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, and other professional/technical meetings.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school required. 2 years’ experience with PC software and hardware, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, operating systems, networking, and scanning systems. Experience supporting hardware and software, including point of sale and payments systems, at customer sites is desired.

Computer Skills

• Technical knowledge of DOS and Windows operating systems and networks.
• Some Knowledge of SQL Server and Network Security.
• Prior Point of Sale system experience beneficial.
• Router and wireless network configuration.

Other Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work well with little or minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate well at different levels within the organization and our customers’ organizations.
• Ability to train others on computer systems and software use.
