Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, organized store and a customer-first focus. You will assist with supervision, merchandising, deposits, and cashiering, while protecting assets and maximizing profitability.

Responsibilities include leading customer service, scheduling, training staff, inventory control, planograms, and ensuring cash control and security. This role supports Store Manager and may require occasional travel between store locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Six months supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise: receiving, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Assist in planogram implementation and merchandise presentation.
• Ensure cashier accountability, cash control procedures, refunds and deposits, and security practices.
• Assist with store management in Store Manager's absence.
