Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a Merchandising Assistant Store Manager in Training (MASM-IT) in New York to gain hands-on experience across key departments and supervisory duties.

During a multi-week training program, you will work with the Store Manager, ASMs, and field teams to create actionable plans that boost sales, improve service, and ensure stock availability and store presentation. Leadership development is a core focus throughout the program.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• 1 year of work experience minimum; 3 years preferred.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
• Occasional overnight travel (<5%) is typical.

Responsibilities

• Oversee merchandising departments (Garden, Hardware, Lumber, Building Materials, Plumbing, Electrical) to ensure programs, service, availability and presentation.
• Collaborate with Store Manager, ASMs, and merchandising field teams to develop and execute sales strategies.
• Learn to perform opening/closing MOD duties and enforce store SOPs, safety, and shrink reduction measures.
• Participate in a structured training program covering store operations, customer service, sales and profitability, and company policies.
• Lead by example to develop staff, handle customer issues, and support service for installed/special orders and product sales.
