Job summary

Dollar General Store is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and paperwork for a limited period. This role is designed to foster external candidates for the Store Manager position.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, cashier accountability, and opening/closing store activities, all while maintaining a safe, well-stocked environment and strong customer service

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting documents, safety rules, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentages for reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Experience with IBM cash registers and reporting features.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising.
• Cash, facility and safety control policies and procedures.
• Experience recruiting and staffing support for stores.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative, customer-focused team player.
• Prefers bilingual Spanish speakers at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock organization.
• Assist inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in manuals.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining cash control and security practices.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
