Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a store-leadership professional to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day operations across multiple departments. You will mentor staff, implement service strategies to boost sales and ensure customer needs are met efficiently, while maintaining store standards.

The role emphasizes staffing, training, and succession planning, with accountability for P&L and safety. Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (meat, bakery, produce and deli).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with team members.
• Ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use it to make informed decisions.
• Experience teaching suggestive selling.
• Lead an organization that practices safe work at all times.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development needs for the team members, involved in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensure the team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and complete all required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
